What You’ll Experience
📍 Morning Session (10am Start) — The Pavilion & The North Laine
The Royal Pavilion
We begin our day in the gardens of Brighton’s extraordinary Royal Pavilion — a place where East meets West with domes, minarets, and dramatic architectural curves. This is the perfect backdrop for learning 180-degree rotation multiple exposure, creating surreal and beautifully layered images by combining the structure’s repeating shapes and ornate details.
You’ll explore how angles, symmetry, and light interact across multiple frames and learn how to use rotation in-camera to create dynamic, shimmering compositions.
The North Laine
From there, we wander into the colourful, energetic streets of the North Laine. Packed with independent shops, vibrant street art, cafés, market stalls, and people from all walks of life, it’s a feast for creative photography.
Here, you’ll practice multiple exposures with people, learning how to capture energy, motion, character, and atmosphere in layered frames. We’ll play with timing, movement, silhouette, and gesture to produce images full of storytelling and life.
📍 Afternoon Session — Beach, West Pier & ICM Magic
Brighton’s seafront offers endless opportunities to slow down, observe, and create. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring movement, texture, and colour.
The Beach
You’ll learn how to create atmospheric, calming images by slowing down the movement of the waves — blending motion blur, texture, and light to capture the rhythm of the sea. This is a perfect environment for practising mindful photography and refining your sense of timing.
The West Pier & Brighton Palace Pier
The skeletal remains of the West Pier, silhouetted against the horizon, are wonderful for expressive compositions. Here we introduce a little crosshatching — using intentional camera movements to create woven textures, intersecting lines, and bold graphic patterns. Combined with Brighton’s coastal light and colourful palette, you’ll build a set of images that feel vibrant, abstract, and unique.
