Brighton’s West Pier has long been one of my favourite subjects for multiple exposure photography. From crosshatching and creative white balance to dreamy bokeh and different blend modes, this iconic structure has offered endless opportunities to experiment. But following the recent storm damage, its familiar silhouette is changing once again. As I prepare to return to Brighton, I’m reflecting on the many ways I’ve photographed this wonderful old pier, the images it has inspired and why returning to a favourite subject can be such a rewarding creative experience.
