Led by Janina Wilde, this immersive workshop focuses on multiple exposure and long exposure techniques, helping you to capture the rhythm, movement, and layered beauty of this unique European city. From glowing bridges to passing trams, you’ll learn how to transform everyday scenes into expressive, artistic images.

Whether you’re new to these techniques or looking to refine your creative approach, this workshop will expand the way you see and photograph the world around you.

About Your Tutor — Janina Wilde

Janina Wilde is an award-winning photography educator and widely recognised for her creative approach to multiple exposure. With a background in both teaching and image-making, she has a natural ability to break down complex techniques into clear, accessible steps — making her workshops both inspiring and highly practical.

Janina is particularly known for her ability to interpret architecture and urban environments, using shape, structure, and light to create images that go beyond the literal. Her work often blends the energy of a city with the softness of long exposure and the layered storytelling of multiple exposure, resulting in images that feel both dynamic and expressive.

A passionate and encouraging tutor, Janina creates a supportive learning environment where experimentation is welcomed and individuality is celebrated. She will guide you through the visualisation process, helping you move from simply recording a scene to creating photographs that reflect your own artistic voice.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to push your creativity further, you’ll be supported every step of the way.

(Please note: timings and locations may vary depending on light and weather conditions.)

Day 1 – Arrival & Evening Canals
We’ll meet at 5pm for a welcome drink before heading out for dinner together. As night falls, we’ll take to the canals to photograph Amsterdam’s beautifully lit waterways, exploring multiple exposure techniques to capture reflections, movement, and atmosphere in a creative way.

Day 2 – Architecture, Canals & Night Photography
A full day of photography awaits. We’ll begin by exploring the striking canal houses along the Damrak, capturing their character and symmetry. From there, we’ll photograph the impressive railway station and wander through some of the quieter side canals, discovering hidden compositions along the way.

After dinner, we’ll head out with tripods to photograph the illuminated bridges along the canal banks — the perfect setting for long exposure work, creating elegant, flowing images full of light and movement.

Day 3 – Culture, Colour & Movement
Our final morning takes us to the museum district, offering a different architectural style and photographic perspective. We’ll then return to the city centre to explore the vibrant flower markets, before focusing on one of Amsterdam’s most iconic moving subjects — trams — using both multiple and long exposure techniques to capture their motion and energy.

The workshop will finish at 4pm, allowing plenty of time for onward travel.
