Your Tutors

Janina Wilde

Janina is a photographer and educator known for her expressive multiple-exposure work and her warm, encouraging teaching style. She specialises in helping photographers develop creative confidence through movement, light, and layered compositions. Janina’s workshops are known for being inspiring, supportive and filled with practical, hands-on learning - as well a lot of fun and laughter.

Angela Nicholson

Angela is a creative photographer, writer and founder of SheClicks. She brings a fresh, imaginative approach to image making, encouraging photographers to see beyond the obvious and experiment with alternative viewpoints and expressive techniques. With extensive experience using most modern camera systems, she is well placed to help photographers overcome technical hurdles and make confident choices about their kit. Her teaching is clear, energising and filled with inventive ways to expand your creative practice.

The striking curves of the Selfridges building, the bustle of the markets, the elegant Library of Birmingham, the characterful streets surrounding New Street and Moor Street stations, and the gentle reflections of the canals all offer endless opportunities for multiple exposure techniques, black-and-white interpretations and abstract architectural work.

Weekend Itinerary

This itinerary is a guide and may shift depending on the weather, light and city events.

Day 1: Saturday 13 June

10:00am -  Meet in Birmingham City Centre

A warm welcome before beginning our first creative walk. We’ll explore the architectural journey from Victoria Square to Centenary Square.You’ll learn how to make a composition,  deciding which multiple exposure techniques are best in each one.

Along the Canals

We’ll wander along some of Birmingham’s canals, focusing on how black and white photography can transform architectural and urban scenes. Reflections, leading lines, and subtle textures all take on new life in monochrome.

Day 2 - Sunday 14 June

Digbeth

Meet in Digbeth’s colourful creative quarter to explore both black & white and multiple exposure approaches within bold street art, industrial textures, and vibrant shapes.

The Selfridges Building

We’ll walk towards the markets and arrive at the magnificent Selfridges building. Its curves, tones, and repeating patterns are perfect for abstract interpretations and expressive layering.

We finish at the characterful Moor Street Station, where its warm tones, vintage details, and strong lines offer a beautiful close to the weekend. We will finish at 4 pm.

1. The full amount  of the workshop price is due 4 weeks prior to the commencement of the workshop.  

2. Any cancellation by you made in the month prior to the trip will mean that Wilde Photography retains the total cost of the workshop unless your place is sold on. If Wilde Photography is able to resell your place,  only the administration costs will be retained and the balance will be refunded.

3.Please make sure you check the travel arrangements, no refunds or partial refunds will be made for lateness or no show due to travel services.

4. Wilde Photography reserves the right to alter or cancel any workshop. Should an alteration or cancellation become necessary for reasons other than force majeure (see clause 6 below), you will be notified and you will then have the choice of accepting the change, taking an alternative workshop (and where this is of a lower price we will refund the difference), or withdrawing from the contract and accepting a refund of all monies paid.

5. Wilde Photography can accept no responsibility for cancellation of workshops due to Force Majeure. Force majeure is unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control including fire, flood or adverse weather conditions. Outdoor photographers work in all weathers and it will be unusual for weather to necessitate a cancellation. However, if a workshop has to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, there will be  an offer of a free place on an alternative workshop.

6. In the unlikely event of the specified tutor being unable to attend due to illness or other circumstances beyond control,  the workshop will be cancelled and the provisions of clause 5 will come into effect.

7. Wilde Photography does not accept responsibility or liability for death, bodily injury or illness caused to you or any other person included on the booking form, unless arising from our negligence.

8. By paying the full amount, you are agreeing to accept all the above conditions

9. This workshop has a minimum number of participants set at 4 per day. If the workshop doesn’t meet this amount all participants will be fully refunded.
