Join photography tutors Janina Wilde and Angela Nicholson for four inspiring nights in the beautiful Spanish city of Valencia. Combining contemporary architecture, vibrant street life, colourful neighbourhoods and coastal scenery, Valencia provides the perfect backdrop for a creative photography adventure.

This women-only workshop has been designed to help you develop your photographic vision while exploring one of Spain's most photogenic cities. Throughout the trip, Janina and Angela will provide guidance, demonstrations and individual support, helping you create a diverse portfolio of images while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of this fascinating destination.

Tuesday 11th May

Arrival and Welcome

15:00 – Arrive at the hotel (depending on flight times)

Settle into our centrally located hotel and meet your fellow photographers.  We'll gather for a relaxed welcome drink and introduction to the workshop.

16:30 – Creative Orientation Shoot

Our first photographic outing takes us to a nearby fountain, where we'll explore creative techniques, including Pep Ventosa-inspired multiple exposure imagery. This is the perfect opportunity to ease into the workshop and begin thinking creatively.

19:00 – Group Dinner

Enjoy dinner together and discuss the exciting days ahead.

Wednesday 12th May

Colour, Coast and Sunset Architecture

10:00 – El Cabanyal

Once a traditional fishing district, El Cabanyal is one of Valencia's most colourful and characterful neighbourhoods. Known for its vibrant tiled façades, narrow streets and authentic atmosphere, here we can look at street photography, colour-focused compositions using the architectural details.  Obviously, multiple exposure can come into the mix, but this is also a good location for documentary- and travel-style images.

12:30 – Lunch by the Beach

Enjoy lunch overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

14:00 – Valencia Marina and Veles e Vents

In the afternoon, we’ll head to Valencia's waterfront. The striking Veles e Vents building provides a modern architectural contrast to the historic neighbourhood we visited earlier in the day.

18:00 – Dinner in the beach area

Thursday 13th May

The City of Arts and Sciences

10:00 – City of Arts and Sciences

One of Europe's most striking architectural complexes, Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences is a dream location for photographers. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the sweeping curves, reflections and futuristic forms provide endless opportunities for creative interpretation.

We'll spend the morning exploring architectural details, symmetry, reflections and abstract compositions. There will be countless opportunities for multiple exposures, while the bold shapes, clean lines and striking colours of the architecture provide excellent subjects for creative colour techniques.

12:30 – Lunch

Lunch in the local area.

14:30 – Return to the City of Arts and Sciences and Turia Gardens

After lunch, we'll continue our exploration, venturing into the surrounding linear park that follows the former Turia riverbed. The Turia Gardens provide a wonderful contrast to the architecture with tree-lined pathways and leading lines.

18:00 – Dinner

20:00 – Sunset at the City of Arts and Sciences

As daylight fades, we'll return to one of Valencia's most iconic locations. The changing light transforms the architecture and reflective pools, creating spectacular opportunities for using the blue hour and sunset colours to compose stunning long-exposure images.  

Please bring a tripod and ND filters for this session.

Friday 14th May

Parks, History and the Old Town

10:00 – Central Park (Parque Central)

Valencia's award-winning urban park offers beautifully designed landscapes, geometric features and opportunities to explore shape, pattern and colour.

12:30 – Lunch

14:30 – Estació del Nord (North Railway Station)

One of Spain's most beautiful railway stations, Estació del Nord is renowned for its elegant architecture and decorative details. It also features a carousel which gives opportunity for more multiple exposure compositions.

15:30 – Valencia Old Town

Our final afternoon takes us into the historic heart of Valencia. The Old Town offers a wonderful contrast to the modern city and is an ideal location to bring together everything you've explored during the workshop.

19:00 – Farewell Dinner

A final evening to celebrate the images created throughout the week.

Saturday 15th May

Morning and Departure

Enjoy a final morning in Valencia. Revisit your favourite locations, relax with a coffee in the sunshine or enjoy some last-minute photography before making your way to the airport.

Your Tutors

Janina Wilde

Janina Wilde is an award-winning photographer, educator and founder of Wilde Photography Academy. Known for her creative approach to photography, Janina specialises in multiple exposure, intentional camera movement and helping photographers develop a personal style. Her workshops are renowned for their friendly atmosphere, practical teaching and encouragement to see subjects in fresh and imaginative ways.

Angela Nicholson

Angela Nicholson is an experienced photographer, writer and educator with an extensive background in photographic journalism and camera testing. Formerly Editor of Digital Photographer magazine and founder of SheClicks, Angela is passionate about helping photographers build confidence and strengthen both their technical and creative skills. Her approachable teaching style makes complex concepts accessible and enjoyable.

With a small group size and two experienced tutors, this workshop offers plenty of individual attention while providing the opportunity to explore one of Spain's most exciting photographic destinations alongside like-minded photographers.

T&Cs

1.It is your responsibility to ensure that your camera has an in-camera multiple-exposure function before attending the workshop. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund if you arrive with a camera that does not support this feature.

2. A deposit per person for the workshop is needed to secure a place.  This is non-refundable with the exception of clauses 6 and 7.

3. The balance of the workshop price is due 6 weeks before the start date, an invoice will be sent 2 weeks prior to this.  If the invoice is not paid within those 2 weeks Wilde Photography Academy and SheClicks reserve the right to advertise the place.  The deposit is not refundable.

4. This workshop has a minimum number of 6 participants. Please do not book your flight until you have been notified. If there are not 6 or more participants 6 weeks prior to the start of the workshop, Wilde Photography Academy and SheClicks reserve the right to cancel the workshop. If it is cancelled, then clause 5 will come into effect and you will receive a full refund.

5. Please make sure you check the travel arrangements, no refunds or partial refunds will be made for lateness or no show due to travel services.

6. Wilde Photography Academy and SheClicks reserve the right to alter or cancel any workshop. Should an alteration or cancellation become necessary, you will be notified and you will then have the choice of accepting the change, taking an alternative workshop (and where this is of a lower price we will refund the difference), or withdrawing from the contract and accepting a refund of all monies paid.

7. In the unlikely event of the specified tutor being unable to attend due to illness or other circumstances beyond control, the workshop will be cancelled and the provisions of clause 6 will come into effect.

8. Wilde Photography and SheClicks do not accept responsibility or liability for death, bodily injury or illness caused to you or any other person included on the booking form, unless arising from our negligence.

9. Wilde Photography Academy and SheClicks do not accept responsibility or liability for participant's equipment  during the workshop or any part of the trip - personal insurance must be in place to cover equipment as well as travel.
